Caramelised Onion Garlic Bread

A round tear-and-share loaf, scored deeply in a criss-cross pattern and stuffed with garlic butter, slow-cooked caramelised onions and plenty of melted Gruyère. As it bakes, the onions turn sticky and sweet and the cheese oozes down into every crack. The outside crisps up while the inside stays soft and buttery, with a deep, nutty, savoury flavour from the Gruyère.

It arrives whole and steaming on a wooden board, so everyone can pull off their own chunk, with a sprinkle of fresh thyme on top. It's made for sharing and is a favourite for groups. Of our garlic breads, this is the richest and most generous — more of a centrepiece than a side.
